Assessing the transport of nanoparticles to vascular endothelium in disturbed flow regions (Cellular Mechanobiology Laboratory)
Project Description: Students will use a newly developed flow chamber that simulates the disturbed laminar flow regions near blood vessel bifurcations. They will seed flow with nanoparticles to assess whether nanoparticles can be targeted to endothelium in these flow regions. Because diseased blood vessels typically occur in these regions, this work will provide the foundations for nanoparticle-based drug delivery to diseased vascular endothelium.
