Manning Joins ASME Journal of Biomechanical Engineering as associate editor

Keefe Manning, associate professor of biomedical engineering

Keefe Manning, associate professor of biomedical engineering and surgery within the College of Medicine, has agreed to serve as associate editor for The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Journal of Biomechanical Engineering.

Manning has been invited to serve on the editorial board for a 3-year term, and will be responsible for the management of peer reviews and manuscripts submitted to the publication.

The journal covers areas such as artificial organs and prostheses, biofluid mechanics, cardiovascular biomechanics, and cell and tissue engineering among others.

The purpose of the journal is to report research results involving the application of mechanical engineering principles to the improvement of human health.

In addition to his role as associate editor, Manning’s relationship with the ASME was further strengthened this year when he was elected as the organization’s Bioengineering Division Fluid Mechanics Technical Committee Chair.

In this position, he will lead the committee’s interactions at ASME conferences and events by organizing workshops and sessions relative to the fluid mechanics focus of bioengineering.

The group is currently working with the FDA to establish computational fluid dynamic expertise and benchmarks for biofluids-related technology.

Manning will serve as ASME Bioengineering Division Fluid Mechanics Technical Committee Chair from 2016-2019.
