Brown co-authors bioprocessing textbook
Justin Brown, assistant professor of biomedical engineering, has co-authored a textbook that explores the principals of bioprocess engineering applications relevant to health care product manufacturing.
“Fundamentals of Modern Bioprocessing,” authored by Brown and Sarfaraz K. Niazi, founding executive chairman of Therapeutic Proteins International, LLC., investigates how biological drug and vaccine manufacturing has become one of the highest-value fields of bioprocess engineering. The industry has opened immensely in recent years and is now viewed as a major employer for engineers in the field.
Brown and Niazi’s book is divided into two sections that centers on the engineering fundamentals of bioprocessing, and also serves as a handbook, offering advice and practical applications.
The work outlines every facet of design, component selection and regulatory concerns and also discusses the purpose of bioprocessing in creating products suitable for human use.
The book is currently available through CRC Press.
