Outside of the classroom
Bioengineering graduate students got together for a number of out of the classroom activities this semester. Their activities included a number of outreach and social events as well as fun and relaxation time. Some of this semester’s highlights are below.
Graduate students convened at this year’s Maple Harvest Festival at Shaver’s Creek. The event teaches community members about the maple syrup process from the tree to the table and, or course, ends with a pancake and sausage breakfast! Who doesn’t love a little trivia? During Penn State’s 2015 Engineer’s Week,
Brittany Banik, bioengineering graduate student, organized a Trivia Night through the Engineering Graduate Student Council (EGSC).
A team of bioengineering students competed in the Trivia games held at the Hintz Family Alumni Center in hopes of taking home a win! They may not have taken first place but they sure had a great time trying! (Pictured from left to right: Dave Gaddes, Mark Battig, Erin Gaddes, Brittany Banik, and Virginia Aragon)
BioE students participated in Exploration-U, a community science night organized through the Eberly College of Outreach & Science Engagement Office. Along with the Engineering Graduate Student Council (EGSC), Brittany Banik and Daniel Bowers demonstrated a milk explosion experiment to explain polarity and chemical bonds. (Pictured: Daniel Bowers)
